Shear Studs

What is a shear stud?

Shear studs are typically known as Nelson stud. They are used in connection to deliver shear strength in composite construction. Shear studs secure concrete to steel structural component, and they are approved as long as they have a soild flux load and follow the following codes:

Shear studs are typically used in composite steel construction to hold to elements together and resist shear forces and increase shear loading capacity.They also act as embedment anchors on frames, angles, plates, and connections.

Shear studs are welded to the steel on several ways. It could be attached at 45 or 90 degrees.
